CHART (Continuous Hyperfractionated Accelerated Radiation) provides evidence that
there may be a definite advantage to patients with head and neck tumors as compared
to conventional therapy. Certain medically inoperable or surgically inoperable
patients may be considered for this treatment. The early benefits seen are that
most patients show complete response on follow-up exams. The treatment is completed
in a shorter span of time not allowing for tumor cell re-population.
